Creative Director Regine Ellis shares her insights into the new collection

JC PR AW15 - 1525

How would you describe your latest collection?
It’s a very current take on contemporary glamour; a fresh perspective on what wedding occasion wear is today.

What fabrics/colours/embellishments have you used?
This season we have drawn upon some of the most complimentary and popular colours for mother of the bride’s with a palette ranging from subtle pinks, silvers and gold’s mixed with striking navy blues. We are encouraging our MOB’s to be fearless too this season with the introduction of a new crisp ivory. The collection sees the addition of several new types of jacquard and modern takes on the traditional fabrics such as geometrically cut lace and delicately embellished tulle.

What do you predict will be your best-selling outfit from the new collection and why?
We believe it has to be one of the styles we featured in our campaign, a striking yet delicate lace applique outfit with illusion tulle top. Its one of those great pieces for transitioning between day and night, with a fitted crop jacket and coordinated lace sleeve detail.

What sets John Charles apart from the other mother of the bride brands?
The John Charles brand is always pushing the boundaries, we’re never satisfied with just keeping with the same traditional designs – we are always looking to give our customers something that sets them apart from the rest. We also take enormous pride in everything we create, nothing is just mass-produced, we put a lot of effort and creativity into every piece design. Quality is also a deciding factor when our retailers choose us; they know that when they offer a John Charles style to their customer they can trust that every little detail will be hand finished to perfection and the fabrics will be of the highest calibre.

How closely do you think mother of the bride fashion follows catwalk trends?
We are always inspired by the latest trends and strive to bring a touch of them to our styles without following them slavishly, making sure our women feel up to date but not uncomfortable.
